I am grateful for this serene and welcoming place, a sacred space to slow down and intentionally connect with God and others. Thank you for the comfort and calm in a busy world.

If you are looking for a place of quiet, of prayer, of wonderful waterfalls and bounteous wildflowers, of more wonderful women - this is the place for your sabbatical.  There are also trails in the woods, bountiful flowers here on the grounds, and a view of Lake Superior.  I've been here six weeks; it's going to be sad to leave here soon.

- S. Noella Poinsette, OSF

I give thanks for this sacred space and the gift of hospitality that all the Sisters have.

What is a Sabbatical?

A sabbatical is a period of time that is set aside from a career, ministry or vocation for the purpose of personal renewal.

The idea of ‘sabbatical’ comes from the Hebrew Scriptures and is reflected in the creation story when God rested from all work.  Sabbath days were a regular part of ancient Hebrew tradition which met the human need for rest, renewal and reflection.

Whether you are in ministry, education, healthcare or any other vocation, a sabbatical plan can be crafted to meet your needs!

  • Ministry planning
  • Research in one of the college or university libraries near by
  • Quiet guest rooms for reading, writing and reflection
  • Beauty of natural attractions along Lake Superior
  • Nutritious and delicious meals
