Advent Retreat:
"A Time to Discern with Mary"
Wednesday, December 3, 2025
7 - 8:30 p.m. CT
St Scholastica Monastery or Zoom
The Annunciation is a powerful lesson on discernment and obedience. In this evening of prayer and reflection Sister Lisa will focus on Mary's response as the "handmaid of the Lord” and her perfect trust in God's plan, even without fully understanding. The talk explores how Mary's example can inspire us to use this Advent as a time to discern God's action in our lives.
Facilitator: Sister Lisa Maurer is Benedictine Sister of the St. Scholastica Monastery in Duluth, Minnesota. Born and raised in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, Sister Lisa graduated there from St. Mary’s High School. She attended Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota, where she played softball and received her B.S. in Education. Sister Lisa received her M.A. in Pastoral Ministry from Saint John’s School of Theology/Seminary in Collegeville, Minnesota.
Before entering the Monastery, Sister Lisa taught and coached in Catholic Schools in southern Minnesota. In the fall of 2007, Sister Lisa entered St. Scholastica Monastery in Duluth and on July 11, 2012, she made her Perpetual Profession as a Benedictine Sister.
