“God with Us:” Our Calling to Become and Make Disciples of Christ
A Spiritual Journey with Matthew

Matthew’s curriculum of discipleship is a timely invitation to authentic living within a challenging cultural context. You are invited to participate in a lectio divina reading and meditation experience of the Gospel of Matthew in four sessions. You are welcome to come to all sessions or just one!
In each session we will explore the meaning of Matthew through
1) structural analysis of each section
2) word studies of paradigmatic words, and
3) contextual analysis of Matthew’s use of Mark, Hebrew scripture, and the New Testament.
We will follow the message of Matthew as it unfolds within the rhythms of the liturgical year. Matthew affirms that God is with us through Christ’s death and resurrection, experienced through the calling, becoming and making of disciples!

Participants may come to any or all of the sessions.
Facilitator: Pastor Dave Mesner is an Oblate of the Order of St. Benedict at St. Scholastica Monastery. He is a spiritual director who received his Master of Divinity at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL and his Ph.D. in Biblical Studies and Classics from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Pastor Dave has served in multiple congregations and faculty positions throughout Minnesota in his 40 years of ordained ministry, and, most recently, he has been the Lead Pastor of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Duluth, MN for the previous 20 years. Pastor Dave resides in Duluth with his wife, Joyce.
Suggested Offering: $10 per session or $40 for the series.
