Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Center for Spirituality and Enrichment! 

This past summer, I had the lovely privilege of supervising a graduate student from Saint John’s School of Theology in Collegeville, MN while she worked on her field education. Her name is Katie Jonza and she is studying for a degree in liturgical music. Due to the pandemic restrictions, everything that she created had to be online. Katie rose to the challenge and put together many beautiful prayer and reflection experiences for use in her ministry.

I am now introducing you to Katie and sharing an exquisite Taizé prayer service and brief explanatory brochure (click here to view) that she put together during this fully online field education experience. As we welcome the New Year and reflect on the year of 2020, take some time to quiet yourself, sit back and close your eyes, and be immersed in this Taizé Service of Lament.

Katie Jonza is a candidate for a Master of Arts in Liturgical Music at Saint John’s School of Theology and Seminary. She graduated with a church music degree from St. Olaf College and has worked in music ministry since then. Katie is passionate about the many ways to encounter God through music, with a special focus on meeting people where they are at while broadening their perceptions. A life-long Catholic who currently works at Peace Lutheran ELCA in Bloomington, MN, she is passionate about ecumenism and how it enriches all faith traditions.
